"If someone isn't dead, dying, or on fire, think very carefully if you want to bother me. Also yes, there is a lion in my house, a real, breathing, shitting, man-eating lion. I'm not making it up. Fuck off."

Ah, yeah... [and now he looks a bit sheepish, rubbing the back of his neck.] This place has the best cakes, and I was worried if I came too late in the day, they'd all be sold out. I really want to try it.

[ Most of those he's talked to are with someone on their team or at least someone they're friends with, of the people from back home at least.
Kenma can completely understand the sentiment, because he feels the same way. ] Yeah, I was hoping that wouldn't happen, too. It looks like we're the only ones for now. [ Which is something he's already very grateful for: no crowds or rushing or loudness. ]
no subject
Mm. I hope it stays that way. I don't care for crowds, especially not this early in the morning. [and with his home situation being what it is, his ability to handle that shit is at an all-time low.]

[ He perks up, brows lifting slightly. He, of course, doesn't know the other too well or know much about him, and so hearing something like that is of interest. Two things they have in common already, huh. ]
Yeah, me too. If it does I guess we can just get the slices as take-out and go somewhere else. [ Ah. Maybe saying 'we' had been presumptuous, but Kenma doesn't correct himself. ]

[he shoves his hands in his pockets, letting his gaze linger on the door of the bakery before shifting back to kenma. kageyama drives him up the wall, and quite frankly, he needs to spend some time with someone he doesn't want to strangle. given how well this conversation has been going, he thinks kenma fits the bill.] Mm, we aren't far from the library, and they allow food and drinks in the lobby area. Plus, it's never crowded.

[ He's, honestly, a little curious considering his limited knowledge of the Karasuno team, excluding Hinata. Kageyama is an enigma to him, hard to understand and almost equally as hard to communicate with. Maybe it's just because his expressions are intimidating...
Kenma spares a moment to check the time on his phone out of anticipation, and then perks up when he slips it back into his pocket. The place should be opening up soon. ] That sounds good. I've never really visited the library here.

[he's never been particularly close to his teammates with the exception of yamaguchi, and until now, his friend's good terms with everyone else acted like a conductor. with him suddenly gone, it left him feeling like his connection had been severed, and while his senpais were still treating him the same, he didn't know how to act around the people who were his age, specifically hinata and kageyama.]
[but his sour mood disappears when the owner of the establishment walks up to the door, flipping the sign from "closed" to "open", giving the two boys a smile before going back behind the counter.]

You could always come over to our place sometime. [ The offer has his own gaze sliding off to the side, not focused on anything in particular, as he briefly muses over what might be his own false assumption that Tsukishima would even want to do something like that. ] I mean, I don't think Kuro would mind, and you guys could probably practice together.
[ It's not like Kenma's a volleyball player, too, or anything, nope.
He brightens when the owner appears, a quickness to his reaction that Kenma normally doesn't have, and he pauses in front of the door as if waiting - before it occurs to him that he's maybe a little too used to his childhood friend opening and holding doors for him. He takes it upon himself to do the same for Tsukishima instead, propping the door open with a foot to let the other go first. ]

[it's a little weird to be the one following behind kenma, since usually he's the one forging ahead with yamaguchi hot on his heels. but regardless, it's nice of him to open the door for him, and he nods in recognition as he steps inside. immediately, he's assaulted with the smell of sweets and fresh-baked bread, and it makes him inhale deep and sigh. god, he loves this place.
he approaches the counter, eyes immediately locating the plate closest to him that bears a pretty hand-written card that says: "New! Blackberry cake with home made cream cheese icing". he points in lieu of actually saying anything.] Two, please. To eat here. [the place was still deserted this early, so they could eat in peace.]
no subject
Yeah, he does that.
[ Kenma simply gives a nod in acknowledgement of that gratitude, following after the other looking all the more eager now that they're inside. Tsukishima gets his silent gratitude for ordering for them both, his hands fishing into his pocket for the money he'd brought with him while his gaze roams the interior surroundings in search of the best seats. ]
Do you want to sit at a table or a booth?
no subject
A table is probably better. I'll end up kicking you if I can't move my chair back.
[just because he knows what to do with his stork legs 90% of the time doesn't mean he isn't still a gangly teenager sometimes. when the waitress places two porcelain plates, complete with doilies on them and everything, with the cake on a tray, he picks it up and follows kenma to wherever he decided they should sit.]
no subject
I can pay you back sometime. [ He calls behind his shoulder, grateful for the fact that Tsukishima had paid but still feeling the need to say that. And Kenma takes a seat, eager anticipation bright in his face, gold eyes wide as he peers at the tray. ] It looks really good. We got big pieces.
no subject
Mm, I bet it's because we were the first customers.
[he takes the plates from the tray, setting one in front of kenma and the other in front of himself along with forks and napkins, setting the empty tray aside once the motions are complete.]
